A formerly homeless man has married a woman who he helped whilst he was sleeping rough and on the streets.

Jack Richardson and Toni Osborne first met in December 2013 whilst he was selling the Big Issue in Bristol. Osborne was passing Richardson when he asked if she would like to buy a copy, much to this horror, Osborne began to cry explaining that she couldn’t even afford her electric bill. Richardson took pity on Osborne offering her some of his earnings so she could afford her electricity over Christmas.

A friendship then blossomed and after a couple of months when Richardson needed somewhere to stay, Osborne offered him her spare room. Richardson and Osborne began getting closer and soon fell head over heels in love. In November 2015, Richardson and Osborne got engaged!

Whilst the couple didn’t have much money, they had an abundance of friends who all pitched in to help the couple pay for their big day. One donated money for Osborne’s wedding dress and another lent Richardson an Armani suit.

Richardson is still selling the Big Issue but is studying a social sciences course with the Open University, he says of their wedding “It was a beautiful service and we’re so grateful for all the support everyone’s given us. We couldn’t be happier.”

What a beautiful story to start the week!
