Just when we thought we’d made it in the Rio Olympics, the Paralympics came along and trumped all over it. The Paralympics has allowed us to continually gloat about how well Great Britain has done in the athletic games.

With the competition coming to a close, we’ve managed to bag a solid second place in the medal table. On the sixth day of the games, we reached the 70-medal mark including 34 of them being Gold. That’s already beaten the 65 medals claimed in London 2012!

It’s fair to say that our Paralympians Ellie Simmonds, Sasha Kindred and Susie Rodgers have all set the benchmark for our athletes this year. Yet the team of exceptionally strong swimmers remain as humble as ever.

"The team are on fire. We're doing an amazing job. I can't wait to race again. This pool is incredible, it's stunning. The atmosphere is amazing," says Simmonds.

That being said we couldn’t be more proud of everyone that has taken part, all of our athletes from this year have proven themselves to be so much stronger since the games in London 2012.

The Paralympics closing ceremony will take place on Sunday 18th September.
