The Winter Youth Olympics are taking place this week in Lillehammer, Norway and they kicked off with a spectacular Opening Ceremony at the Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena, the same venue that hosted the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games in 1994.

Mirroring Lillehammer’s Olympic past, the Youth Olympic Games cauldron was lit by HRH Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway. 22 years ago to the day, the Princesses father, HRH Crown Prince Haakon, lit the exact same cauldron to kick off Lillehammer’s very first Olympic Games.

The Youth Olympic Games is a tournament designed to inspire young people all over the world as well as giving them solid values to live by. Sport is a wonderful thing to bring people together and to allow people to put goals and achievements in place.

If you’re lucky enough to be going to any of the games then don’t forget to invest in your Heat Holders to keep you warm and cosy all day!
