Although we’re finally seeing more of the sun, those pesky April showers are no joke. Rainy days don’t have to mean staying indoors feeling bored or stuck, whether you’re looking for fun indoor activities that the whole family can enjoy, or something a little different to brighten up a grey day, there’s plenty to do without breaking the bank.
Here are our budget-friendly rainy day activities for the whole family, all coming in at under £30 per person!
Indoor Trampoline Park
We know what it’s like with youngsters. When it’s pouring down and they can’t race around in the garden or at the park, it can be a handful. That’s why indoor trampoline parks are the perfect place for your little ones to bounce off their energy and for you to get a couple of hours to yourself in the cafe area.
Trampoline parks aren’t just for the kiddies either, if you fancy a go at releasing your inner child, swap your shoes for grip socks and get bouncing, jumping, flipping and sliding.
There are hundreds of trampoline parks across the country so you’ll never have to go far, with major chains like Flip Out and AirHop offering numerous locations. The average price of entry is £10-15 per person, giving you 90 minutes of flipping fun.
Bowling + Arcades
Consider yourself a bit of a pin king? Why not exercise your skills by taking the whole family for a day of bowling and arcade games at your local activity centre?
Most local bowling alleys also have arcades and places to eat and drink so there’s plenty to do under one roof, so no one gets bored.
If there’s just adults attending, get those competitive juices flowing and make it interesting by letting the bowling champion eat or drink for free at the end of the game!
Cinema Day Out
Nothing says ‘rainy day’ quite like a movie marathon. Head to your local cinema complex to watch a latest release or a rerun of a classic. You can’t go to the cinema without purchasing a big box of popcorn and a slushy!
If you want to get super cosy, take one of our thermal blankets for a super snuggly cinema experience.
Escape Room Adventures
If you’re feeling stuck inside when it’s cold and wet out, you might as well take it one step further and lock yourself in an exciting escape room!
In this timed challenge, you’ll be given a themed room in which a series of clues will lead to your escape. Work together to get out of the room in the least amount of time, taking glory in the bolt for freedom.
These popular escape rooms are popping up all over the country, averaging £25-£30 per person and taking roughly an hour to complete.
Arts + Crafts Day
Get your inner Picasso on and have an an-home crafts day with the kids. All you need to do is head to your local art supplies store, buy some crafty equipment like easels, paints, brushes and anything you’d like to make art out of, and let your imagination run wild.
To avoid staining your furniture, place old newspaper or magazines down on the surface you plan to create your crafts to reduce any spillage stains.
Here are some fun ideas of crafts to get the creative inspiration flowing!
Great British Bake Off - At Home
If your life’s dream is to get a handshake from Paul Hollywood, practice your baking skills at home whilst it’s wet and wild out.
From fairy cakes to homemade bread, why not follow the latest season of GBBO and make each week’s bakes until you feel ready to tackle any technical?
Rain rain go away, come back another day. Or, if that doesn’t work, choose one of our rainy day activities to enjoy until the sun comes back out!
