Heat Holders

Whether you’re camping, birdwatching or just enjoying a day out in the country, these Mens Original Outdoors Long Merino Wool Blend Socks in Brown will keep you warm and comfortable no matter how long you spend outdoors. They’re made with Merino wool, a natural fibre with amazing thermal and moisture management properties that feels far finer and softer against the skin than regular wool.

Heat Holders Outdoors thermal socks are an evolution of our classic and warmest Original thermal socks, designed to bring you unparalleled warmth, comfort and protection in all your outdoor activities or pursuits. These extra long length Original Outdoor Merino Wool socks boast an even higher 2.9 TOG rating, making them over twice as warm as an ordinary thermal sock and more than eight times warmer than a basic cotton sock!

To meet the demands of the outdoors, we’ve boosted protection and durability in the heel and toe, which usually see the most impact and wear. We also use a special fibre blend and knitting structure for these elements, making them more resistant to abrasion (rubbing). The result is a durable yet wonderfully wearable outdoor sock that will keep you warm and comfortable whatever your outdoor pursuit.

FAQs About Our Original Socks

How do Heat Holders socks work?

There are no batteries, switches, solar panels or other gimmicks! Heat Holders thermal socks are made using our unique three-stage thermal construction:

1. Heat Holders thermal yarn: Our advanced Japanese-designed thermal yarn provides high-performance insulation with superior softness and moisture-minimising breathability.

2. Heat Holders thermal loops: Our innovative knitting technology produces our PATENTED long-loop cushion pile to hold more warm air close to the skin, boosting the socks' thermal overall grade (TOG) rating.

3. Heat Holders thermal brushing: Our expert brushing process maximises the amount of warm air held within the fabric of the socks for unbeatable warmth and all-day comfort.

Are Heat Holders the warmest thermal socks in the world?

As far as we know and based on all the tests carried out so far, Heat Holders socks are indeed the warmest thermal socks in the world.

What is a TOG rating?

TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) is an independent laboratory-tested standard for insulation. The higher the TOG rating, the better the product is at keeping you warm. You’ll see TOG ratings applied to duvets and babywear, as well as thermal clothing like Heat Holders.

How warm are Heat Holders Original socks?

As far as we know and have ever tested, all three weights of Heat Holders socks (Original, Lite and Ultra Lite) are the warmest thermal socks in their respective weight/thickness categories.

Our Original socks have a TOG of 2.3, which is 7 x warmer than a basic cotton sock.

We also have our Original Wool socks, with a TOG of 2.7 and our Original Merino Wool socks, with a TOG of 2.9.
